Take a peek into our little boy’s nursery

For our little boy’s nursery we wanted to create a delightfully calming space, using a mix of colors and textures to add a bit of playfulness. After spending hours scrolling and pinning my favorite nurseries on Pinterest (follow me here), I put together a mood board and started sourcing furniture and decorative accessories.

We opted for classic decor that we can easily switch up and change as Noah grows and finds new interests. We purchased a basic chest of drawers from Ikea – I believe it was around £200 and replaced the original knobs with these cute ones from Sass & Belle. If you’re a mum, you would have probably seen this particular piece of furniture from Ikea in many nurseries, and that’s because is so spacious. We don’t have a wardrobe in this room yet – mainly because for the first year your little one doesn’t really need one, so we put a sofa bed instead.

Another item that I didn’t think was necessary for the nursery was a changing table – we used a changing mat and that proved to be a lot more practical and affordable for us.

For the cot, we opted for a purse-friendly option from Mothercare and splurged on the mattress. We have only used the cot for day naps so far because Noah is still sleeping in the SnuzPod bedside crib – for those of you who are maybe not familiar with it, the SnuzPod has been cleverly designed to sit next to your bed (making feeding at night a breeze), and has a unique lift-off bassinet that’s lightweight and comfortable for use around the home.

Proof that grey doesn’t have to be boring, we painted both the walls and the ceiling in Dulux ‘Chic Shadow’ and used a playful yet relaxed wallpaper called ‘Starry Night’ from Murals Wallpaper to add personality, depth, and color to the room. Despite having a sloped and uneven wall, we were able to install it in just a couple of hours time, following their step by step instructions. I particularly love this wallpaper mural because it is gender-neutral, has a soothing and restful feel and looks so good paired with white furniture. If you’re looking to update your child’s room, Murals Wallpaper is a perfect choice.

I always get so many compliments about this cute wooden mouse chair, available at Oskoe – for now, we have only used it for decorative purposes. We’ll certainly buy the matching table, too once our little one is able to sit properly.

As I mentioned earlier, the decor will change as Noah grows and finds new interests – the personalized baby mat and gym from My 1st Years will definitely be stored away soon, for example. We have a new playmat from Toddlekind perfect for Noah’s rolling and (almost) crawling. It’s made of non-toxic EVA foam, easy to care for and doubles up as a yoga mat (not that I hame time for yoga or any exercise for that matter, haha).

I hope you enjoyed taking a peek into our little boy’s nursery. I tried to link everything, but if there is anything that I missed give me a shout.
