Designing our dream kitchen

Choosing a new kitchen is such an exciting project, but also usually a major investment. When my husband and I bought this house over two years ago, we knew that we needed to extend the kitchen so we could have a bigger space.

I started looking on Pinterest (follow me here) mainly, scrolling through and pinning my favourite styles. We live in Kent, so we wanted to bring a touch of the country to our kitchen.

I first knew about Wren Kitchens by seeing them advertised in ‘Ideal Home’ years ago. After visiting their Maidstone showroom over a month ago, we both decided that Wren was the best fit for us and our budget.

We found every showroom visit (we had four in total) incredibly exciting and insightful, with so many kitchen styles, colours and finishes to choose from. White was definitely not an option!

Country is such a popular choice that most companies will have different options depending on your taste and budget – we personally fell in love with Wren’s take on this classic and traditional style, made of the highest quality materials.

What I like most about our soon-to-be dream kitchen is the colour! Although initially, we wanted a bold colour, in the end, we both agreed that Roman Leaf and Pebble would look best in our space. Colour changes depending on light and can vary from one corner of a room to another, so it’s worth getting a sample in your chosen finish and move it around the room to judge how it reacts in various lights. That’s what we did!

If you’re embarking on a new kitchen project as we are, you’ve come to the right place because I will be documenting the entire kitchen renovation.

Hopefully, you’ll find all the advice and inspiration you need in my following posts. We are finalizing our order tomorrow, so I will keep you in the loop! For all my kitchen renovation updates, you can have a nosey over on my Instagram page, under Highlights.
