As much as I love a perfectly set-up table, dressed with loads of chic linens and fabulous flatware, there’s always something fun and memorable about a picnic party.
In addition to choosing and packing the perfect edibles – charcuterie, macarons and champagne for me! – picking the ideal outfit is fun, too. The great thing about a picnicparty is that you can experiment with different clothes and you can wear pretty much anything (not quite, really – a pair of stilettos is a big NO). Go for machine-washable, lightweight fabrics – just like I did; I love the fit of this Gerard Darel stripe dress from BrandAlley – one of the hottest online shopping destinations with all-year-round exclusive sales. This particular dress style, slightly oversize is guaranteed to make you feel comfortable and covered, and that nothing is pulling in an unattractive way.
Also, remember that you’ll be on the grass, so go for shoes that won’t sink into the ground. I picked a chic pair of embellished sandals from Oasis – slightly dressier than a pair of flip-flops or sliders. I then added a pair of sunglasses, a spacious handbag and finished things off with a bracelet and my new Caravelle New York watch that basically goes with everything I’ve got in wardrobe.
What would you wear when dining al fresco? Let me know in your comments.
