Dolce & Gabbanna’s star-studded A/W11 collection sparked a trend alert a few years back and I’ve been coveting their pieces ever since. Winter is upon us, so what better time for star prints to find their way into our hearts and wardrobes than at Christmas?
Yes, stars are the new polka dots and I’ve seen them emblazoned onto key fall silhouettes like snuggly knits, floor-length dresses and platform oxfords at Stella McCartney. Star prints are incredibly wearable and super chic. If you’re not quite sure what to wear for the Christmas dinner with his parents, I love the idea of wearing a star print blouse with a pair of skinny jeans and heels. But please don’t wear more than 2 star prints at a time, otherwise you might look like the American flag.
My favourite and most recent purchase is this beautiful Topshop blouse with a delicate and subtle star print. It’s feminine, stylish and definitely added a fun flavour to my outfit. For a day look, I paired it with a pair of skinny jeans, a black and gold clutch bag from Paul’s Boutique and a warm coat from Halston Heritage. If you are going for a night out, nothing spells glamour like a short starry dress!
If star print clothing isn’t your thing, go for a clutch or a pair of heels to add that star touch to your final look. Remember to keep the rest of your outfit simple and let the star print take centre stage. Also, avoid wearing really large star prints; they tend to look shabby, especially if they are colourful. Go for smaller prints, they’re cute and look great on everyone.
