The Hoxton, Holborn

Choosing a hotel to stay in London is like shopping on Oxford Street: is challenging and exhausting, as there are so many choices.
But The Hoxton, Holborn is slightly different – this New York-ish, quirky hotel sits in a prime spot looking out to the ever busy Oxford Street and stands out from other hotels with their reasonable priced rooms, no hidden charges or rip-off minibars. (The Hoxton, Holborn, 199–206 High Holborn, WC1, has rooms from £69 to £269,

Once you step in, you’ll be fascinated by the modernist and quirky interior design, the buzzy atmosphere and the super friendly staff.

The rooms go by the names Shoebox, Snug, Cosy and Roomy – and no, they’re not huge, but are they ever in London? We stayed at the Shoebox; the room was super cute and cosy, compact but well-designed, with thoughtful touches: the door-handle tag said “I’ve been a mucky pup…”. There was a  huge circular mirror (perfect for a cheeky Instagram selfie), flip-lid desk, mini-fridge with complimentary water and milk, Roberts radio and 42” Samsung TV. The bathroom was compact, featuring black-and-white subway tiles, great shower and toiletries by Pen & Ink. For a blissful morning you’re given a a breakfast bag that includes a banana, a juice and a granola. And did I mention the free, super-fast wifi?

All in one, a great and purse-friendly hotel; can’t wait to be back!
