When we first heard about Grand Café Villandry St. James , we thought it looked too good to be true .
Located in the buzzy area of St. James , overlooking through their stunning large windows the Big Ben , it has an attention to detail that is sure to impress stylish travellers , business people and everyone in between , really .
This restaurant – opened in Autumn last year in a 1913 Edwardian baroque building – continues Villandry’s aim to develop large restaurants in amazing architectural spaces in central London .
The menu is a fabulous celebration of French and Mediterranean cuisine , and offers two exquisite private rooms on the mezzanine , serving sophisticated food and good wines at fantastic prices .
The main restaurant is all leather banquettes and generously spaced tables , busily attended to by eager , young staff .
Managing Director Philippe Le Roux said : “Our latest restaurant has been designed to recreate the style of traditional French Grand Cafes , mixing both high end and casual all day dining .
“Food at St James’s will come from a French Mediterranean menu of seasonal and locally sourced ingredients , with dishes including dressed Devonshire crab salad , grilled sea bass , and 28 day dry-aged Galloway steak fillet served with chips and Béarnaise sauce .”
As for the atmosphere ? A little Paris in the heart of London ! Swoon !
