Styling Jigsaw AW16 pre-collection inspired by Georgia O’Keeffe
I believe it’s safe to say that a lot has changed since I first started blogging, but throughout this amazing journey, one thing has remained consistent: my style. I’ve always had a very specific style – classic, feminine and timeless. As years passed by I realized that personal style is something that has to be nurtured and true.
Trends are one trap that can derail your personal style. I try to be very discerning and mostly invest in pieces that I’ll cherish for years to come, unless a certain trend coincides perfectly with my own style. It’s so easy to get seduced by the current trends, but remember that style goes way beyond fashion.
‘Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak’
Gabrielle Chanel, known as Coco, is my constant inspiration. Sure, I have a style that’s all mine, but that doesn’t mean I don’t find inspiration in others. I would trade wardrobes with Coco Chanel in a heartbeat. She’s the fashion pinnacle of timeless elegance. She took her dreams and turned them into reality on her own, and liberated women from their common stereotypical uniform significantly changing the fashion industry.
Georgia O’Keeffe, an American modernist artist, is another style icon that speaks my language and truly inspires me. Throughout the years she stuck to one particular style, thereby creating a very distinct signature style. Jigsaw AW16 pre-collection is inspired by her dress sense, featuring beautifully soft tailored monochromatic pieces punctuated by delicate splashes of colour, reflective of her world-renowned paintings.
‘The hands of Georgia’ – inspiration for Jigsaw AW16 pre-collection was launched last week and features the illustrations of Rob Phillips. I’m celebrating this fantastic collection in the form of the below outfit, styling some of my absolute favourite pieces, including the Georgia illustration top, cut from silk crêpe de chine and featuring a whimsical illustration, the stylish wrap front trouser and the embossed leather pouch featuring the art of Sam Kerr.
Now all that’s left for you is to decide which piece you’d like to introduce to your wardrobe.
