That being said I wrote a piece on how shopping can help save the planet – read here – and how we’re spending less on clothes than we ever did, but own more than ever before. That leads me to a question: is repeating an outfit a fashion faux pas? If not, then why not re-wear what’s in our closets and shop less?
At the beginning of the year (which by the way feels like ages ago), I promised myself to be a better shopper and re-work some of my old pieces. Everyone, from The Duchess of Cambridge to Michelle Obama or Olivia Palarmo, have recycled a handful of looks. Because yes, it’s ok to wear an outfit on repeat!
For example, I wore the below House of Ronald shirt and Charles & Keith handbag not long ago – read here – and decided to re-wear these pieces but in a different combination. The first look had a more relaxed, laid-back feel, but the second one is undeniably more classy and feminine.
Look at current trends for inspiration to wear your old pieces the new way. Switch your hairstyle and makeup, because these details matter as well. Repeating outfits is a great way to save money, do your part for the environment by shopping less and only when necessarily and why not reinvent your personal style.
