How to get a tan and protect your skin

The hottest month of the year brings with it sleeveless dresses, crop-tops and chic swimsuits, and I bet you’ve been working on your tan already.

Hopefully you haven’t forgotten the importance of tanning gradually and using the right factor sun screen lotion. But what happens once you’ve achieved that longed-for glowing skin? Too often those who’ve got a tan or who have naturally dark skins think this is an excuse to waive the precautions. But that’s really not a good idea.

Tanning is still a very popular activity and people often engage in to improve their appearance and raise their self esteem. Even though tanning can make a person look more appealing (read slimmer), it can also create a lot of problems for their health. People who tan on a regular basis without using protection, tend to get some form of skin cancer later in life. So next time you’ll be sunbathing between 10am and 3pm, think twice!

Read below about my favourite sun screen products to achieve a natural-looking and healthy glow.

Golden Protect Oil SPF30

Garnier Ambre Solaire Golden Protect Oil

A lovely golden oil that leaves the skin looking incredibly sexy and has an SPF of 30 (genius!). It’s not greasy or sticky, is moisturizing – so you don’t have to worry about the sun drying out your skin, and the scent is not overpowering. I won’t recommend it for an oily skin type, though.

For fair and sensitive skin. It helps protect against sun-induced pigment spots.

It’s also paraben-free, with a reduced amount of chemical filters, and non-perfumed. Anthelios products all have a high PPD (Persistent Pigment Darkening) factor to help prevent sunspots and age spots, and the brand was also the first laboratory to use Mexoryl XL and Mexoryl SX, which are widely recommended by dermatologists as the most effective sunscreens against UVB and, crucially, UVA.

An easy to apply, luxurious, moisturising, ultra-comfortable and non-greasy sun screen lotion. Great for dry skin. For best results, apply 30 minutes before exposure and re-apply frequently and generously every two hours to maintain protection especially after swimming.

Garnier Ambre Solaire UV Sport

The 1st Garnier sunscreen range created for sports activities and tested under extreme conditions.
It’s sweat proof and very resistant to water for optimal hold on the skin. Enriched with absorbing complex for a long lasting soft touch and continuous diffusion for quick application and quick absorption. It does not leave the skin dry and offers very high sun protection.
