Santa is not the only guest you’ll have to impress this holiday season. No matter what’s on the festive menu, your table setting requires a little extra attention too. Even if your culinary skills are not great, a beautiful Christmas table setting will make up for everything.

It’s my absolute favourite holiday and each year I try to make the Christmas dinner even more memorable. There are many things to consider when it comes to decorating the Christmas table: colours, patterns, centrepieces and tablewear. Below you’ll find some tips and suggestions that hopefully will inspire and help you to set up the perfect Christmas dinner table.

Christmas table decorating ideas

I always start with the selection of the tablecloth and the table runner. This year I wanted to keep things simple, yet sophisticated and opted for white with silver accents. Alternatively, you can use red, gold or any other colour that takes your fancy. Tip Don’t overlook the holiday decor when planing your Christmas table decorations, your guests might be disappointed. Choose traditional Christmas symbols such as stars, snowflakes, cones or fir branches.

I then folded the white napkins, added some beautiful angel-shaped silver rings and placed them on the dinning plates. A silver champagne bucket, a floral arrangement and a few candles in different sizes will work as a wonderful centerpiece.

Recycling at Christmas

Most families throw away more plastic bottles than normal over Christmas. The festive season creates chaos and the easiest way to sort the mess is to dump everything into the green bins ready for collection. We do it every year, but this time it could be different.

How? I can hear you asking? By simply switching to a refillable bottle. I’ve always said it – recycling and looking after the environment is everyone’s responsibility and Christmas is no exception. I believe the change is in our own hands, so it’s really important to encourage and educate our friends and families to give up using single use plastic bottles.

The  limited edition of BRITA’s best selling water filter jug fill & enjoy Marella Starlight Edition is a better alternative to your plastic bottle. The lid and handle are glittery, matching perfectly with your festive Christmas table.  BRITA filtered water will not only keep you refreshed and hydrated, but will also help you to prepare excellent tasting tea or coffee and can be used for cooking healthy food as well!
