I’ve been inspired by my recent equestrian event with Joules at Burghley Horse Trials to write this piece and I’m hoping to give you some great starting styling tips. So read on, my lovelies!
About Burghley Horse Trials… is an annual three-day event held at Burghley House near Stamford, Lincolnshire in early September. Joules have had a stand at Burghley for over 25 years, so these prestigious horse trials are always something they’re looking forward to. What better excuse to enjoy a day in the sunshine, watching the horse trials than with a brand established on the equestrian and country show circuit?
With over 15.000 visitors, getting your outfit to stand out from the crowd can be a nerve-wrecking task. But don’t worry, just follow my key pointers below for guidance…
Practical clothes and footwear is always a must at events like these. As the English weather is quite unpredictable, I recommend wearing a pair of wellies (you’ll find them in a variety of styles and colours in Joules stores and online) or riding boots. Investment buys like these are worth every penny: riding-boot styles hold their shape very well, are comfortable and designed to fit the curve of the leg, giving your pins a great silhouette.
Looking effortlessly chic is all about incorporating simplicity with style – mixing a crisp white shirt with a tweed fieldcoat will give you that winning look. Tweed is certainly the most appropriate texture to wear at Burghley.

Thank you Joules for the tasty lunch (and the best chocolate brownie!), the fun gin tasting session with Warner Edwards, the giggles, the incredible stay at Rushton Hall and generally for looking after us so well!
