It’s easy to get swayed by the latest trends in your search for the perfect coat, but I always try to invest in classic styles that will stand the test of time. And remember, investment is often the key to finding an instant signature style.
The Autumn/Winter collections are full of tempting textures, from Coast’s monochrome wool blend coat with faux-fur pockets to Girls on Film’s glorious suede khaki coat with gold pop stud fastening. With a stylish winter coat like that, it hardly matters what lies beneath, right?
1st Look I love a suede coat and this particular piece from Girls on Film is both stylish and practical. It’s not really the warmest of coats, but that means I get to play with layers and be a little bit more creative when getting dressed in the morning. It goes with denim, my daily uniform and seems like the perfect pairing to my new boots from Cara. It also comes in black, so I’d be seriously tempted to get both.
3rd Look If you want to make a statement, this beautiful lilac coat from Chi Chi is the perfect option. It’s a flattering style, with cropped sleeves and standout bow detailing that will turn heads for all the right reasons. What’s not to love?
4th Look H&M coats are right up there when it comes to finding something on-trend and affordable. I tried this pea coat in store a few weeks ago and I fell in love. This piece does all the talking so the rest of the outfit can be kept simple. It does come up big so I would go a size down.
5th Look Wrap yourself in elegance with this monochrome check coat from Next – you would have probably seen me wearing this before here. If you’re looking for a classic style to last for years to come, this coat should be top of your shopping list. It’s by far the best purchase under £100 I’ve made this season and quite possibly the only outwear piece that makes my petite frame justice.
