Paris is one of the world’s most beautiful cities – and my absolute favourite, too. But with so much to see and do in Paris, it’s hard to narrow it down to the essentials, while still experiencing everything the city has to offer. My short guide to Paris will make up le vrai Paris through the eyes of a fashionista, and is sure to provide a memorable – and authentic – experience.
If you want to get a taste of Paris and its cafe culture, make your way down to Le Marais for your morning coffee and croissant, then wander up the rues Vieille du Temple and Franc Bourgeois, two of the neighborhood’s central spines, and discover the charming side streets and the quartier‘s many hidden delights.
Nothing says Paris like the Luxembourg Gardens. Bordered by Saint-Germain-des-Prés and the Latin Quarter, these fab gardens are beloved by Parisians longing to bask on a chair in the sunshine or enjoy an impromptu picnic. An Instagram photo is mandatory!
There’s nothing quite like seeing Paris from a boat, so ride the Bateau Mouche to see Paris’s graceful bridges and the city’s most famous landmarks. Finish your day with a cocktail at the Ritz. Along with masterfully prepared cocktails you’ll be treated to all the extras that transform a drink into an experience.
Hands down to the best shopping destination in Paris – Galeries Lafayette. If designer shopping and elite French brand names set your heart all aflutter, get there – the favourite spot of all fashionistas. Plus, another reason to make your way to the Galeries is that The Pinson coffee moved to Lafayette Gourmet – a famous vegetarian hot spot that won the hearts of all Parisians.
As crowded as it might be, the Eiffel Tower is still Paris’s most beloved landmark. Enjoy a glass of champagne at the top of the tower (25 euros that is, but is well worth it, believe me), lunch at the new 58 Tour Eiffel on the first floor, or an elegant dinner at Le Jules Verne. There are also two well-priced cafés with healthy salads and sandwiches.
There’s nothing quite like Paris and regardless of your budget and what you’re visiting, you’ll still be mesmerized by this fab city! Let me know your go-to Parisian places in your comments.
